How to tell if a Candidate is a Good Fit for the Company

Evan: How do I gauge if a candidate is a good fit for my company?
Jane: Cultural fit is the toughest thing to get out of an interview. I recommend seeing candidates in different situations beyond just the interview and making sure to have others interview them too. It’s important to get candidates to really talk about themselves and how they problem solve, not just to reiterate the accomplishments on their resume.
Evan: How do you know if they are just telling you what you want to hear?
Jane: You probably won’t! A good interviewee will know so much about your company that they will tell you what you want to hear. I like to rely on references to understand more about the person and gain important insights that may not come out in the interview.
